I noticed some bubbling on the paintwork just along the roof-rail above the C pillar. It's not rust, is it?

he could be posting from europe and his car is 5+ years old?
Why is everything on this forum some sort of conspiracy that the dealer and Audi are out to screw people..

Most people on this board will assume that you are talking about a new model A3.

As I mentioned and someone else asked how old is the car.. The car could be well out of warranty.. Perforation coverage will only be good if there is a hole.. so no its not always the answer to bring it back to the dealer.. its not always Audis fault.. not every car with a problem is a lemon..

I'm not trying to be a dick here, but alot of the time, there IS something wrong with the car, and it needs to be addressed by the dealer or AOA. I know you used to work at a dealer, and I'm glad you can give us that perspective. However, some who have bought cars from Audi have a certain cynicism from their dealings with the dealer and the make. I had a situation where there was a paint discoloration on my A6. Tooke it to the dealer and they replaced the car. That's what I expected from the dealer. Especially when I spent almost 50k for the car. I think those who spend their hard earned money should expect no less.
there is no definite right or wrong. this is a forum of opinions, if you don't like my posts, then don't read them.
If he wanted to provide more details, he should have. I took what little information there was and posted. I've been around these parts for a long time. enough to know there ARE issues with the dealers and with the make. you just need to ****ing relax.

Oh dear, what have I started!!
OK, it's a 1998 Audi A3 with about 62k mls on the clock. Bodywork has been fine thus far and she's certainly out of warranty. There's about a half-inch of paint bubbling on the roof at the corner where it meets the C-pillar, right next to the rain channel. My fear is that there maybe an unseen leak (i.e feeding the rear wash-wipe) and it's taking it's toll now. There's no damp marks on the interior though.
I'm not taking a pot-shot at Audi, but if it's rust/rot of some kind I'll be a tad disappointed. I'm wondering if I need to bring it in for an inspection, or stop worrying about it. Thanks folks.

this is just the second post I made about taking the car being taken back to the dealer. read your posts, you're the one getting all defensive about things.

You could take a look on the UK golf mk4 forums...I believe that I read about this issue before on this site...after all the A3 and mk4 are based onthe same chassis so it may be worth asking...
Hopefully your bodywork warrenty will still be covered, as it is in the rain gutter then it could be a design issue.Probably the dealer is your best bet, but have some info up your sleve before you go in...
Good luck man<ul><li><a href="http://www.uk-mkivs.net/forum/uk_home.asp">http://www.uk-mkivs.net/forum/uk_home.asp</a</li></ul>

Excellent, that may do it. Will knock a few dealers' heads together and see what comes of it. If the Golf has a 12 year paint warranty then the Audi should be similar. Thanks lads.

I think this is shocking. I have a similar problem
but Audi uk dont want to know *u**king W**kers. I had a Honda Civic 1992 which was left out in all kinds of weather, the body work just started to perish a year ago. There is no way a car with Audi's supposedly Prestige reputation this should happen. They should really look after there customers. I am seriuosley thinking of changing brands.
