I just drove an A3 at Baillargeon Audi. It was Black with tan int, DSG, Luxury package, and sky roof. All I have to say is WOW! That DSG tranny is simply amazing in this car. I drove it most of the time in S (sport) mode because I wanted to hear and feel the downshifts and throttle blips. It was truly amazing! I drove the car with the A/C on on purpose since here in Texas, that is what I would be doing most of the year. I have to say that there was no turbo lag. The extra .2 liters bigger than the 1.8 plus the FSI really enforces the bottom end torque and throttle response. I drove it for several miles and then at one point I was asked to make a U turn. The sales guiy told me that while making the U-turn, punch it and don't let off. WOW! The shifts are all very crisp and right at redline.
Can you tell that I am excited!
The fit and finish is simply amazing also. What looks like aluminum, IS really aluminum over plastic but feels and looks expensive. The steering wheel is adjustable for rake which is very rare to find in this price range. I set the drivers seat in a comfortable position, got out of the car, and then sat in the back seat. It has a LOT of leg room. Also there is a center arm rest in the back seat, another feature that some others leave out. If you are in the area, go drive it! It's not a stripped down pre-production car. It's a nicely equipped production A3. :)
