Just had Audi Lee Valley do a complete diagnostics and they say there's no faults, but I know there turbo is not working in 1st and 2nd and needs a lot of revving down there. What should I do? Accept their word or insist on further checks?
Ask them to check vacuum pump/MAF?
Thanks.

Have you asked anyone locally to help you out...their must be some VW club members that live close to you, they would help you out...If not then bring the car to a good independant VW/Audi mechanic, stay away from the main dealer unless you want to get fleeced...
You need to exhaust every other possiblity first before replacing the turbo...

thanks, I've just been on the phone to them. Apparently their disgnostics does not involve checking the vacuum pump or the MAF?!! Just the damn electrics (computer, central locking, 4WD)!! I originally wanted him to check the vac and MAF, but they wanted to do a diagnostic first before doing anything else and now he tells me that the diagnostics does not include these anyway!!!
I'm so angry with them!! The service guy says he'll get the workshop ppl to call me tomorrow about checking these other things. I'm pretty sure the turbo is fine cos it does seem to work in 3rd, 4th and 5th gears.
Also this is my first quattro so a little niave on a couple of things and need to clear up - does the turbo not work on 1st and 2nd gears on A3TQ at 2000-3000rpm? if it does, then it seems there definately is a problem on my car!!! oh woe is me!!!

I've had similar problems with the turbo, in the end it came down to a small vac leak on the dv, meaning highy pressure was needed to open the dv.

if they have come up with no faults on their test equipment the chances are that the air mass meter is at fault because this will cause lack of boost pressure when it goes faulty but it will not show a fault code because it does not completely pack up but only goes out of spec causing low boost...
