I'm about to replace the battery in my 98 A3 1.6 SE. I was thinking of going for the heavy duty version, size 065. as quoted in their application guide. However, there is a slight difference in size to the OE battery. It has a height of 190mm whereas the Halford battery is 175mm. The application guide also indicates 2 fitting clips are required.
Has anyone fitted a Halford battery and is there any problems I should know about? What happens with the little fuse box which sits on top of the battery?
From previous experience with my other car I know the Halford (Yuasa/Lucas) battery is reliable.

I fitted a Halfords calcium 063 battery to my '97 A3 1.6 a few weeks ago. Seems to be OK - not sure why they mention the extra fitting strips as the base of the battery is pretty much identical to the Varta battery it replaced and it seems to fit quite securely. AFAIK this is a rebadged Yuasa battery. The fusebox clips onto the top of the battery and can be removed once the connection is unbolted from the +ve lead.
