What's the secret to removing the lower trim panel inside the tailgate of a 1997 model A3? I've found the two screws inside the internal handle, but I can't find what else is holding it on. Any hints appreciated.

Just the two screws hold it in place, the rest are spring retention clips. You have you force it open. Start at one corner and pull it away and the rest will follow.
