I just reserved my 2000 A4 and it should be here in a couple days, I live in Chicago and I am just curious if there is anyway to get the dealer to go down from sticker price? I have heard horror stories about Audi dealers and their unwillingness to negotiate on their sticker prices... the sticker price is going to be somewhere in the 30K range and I know invoice is a couple K lower than that... if anyone has any suggestions please help me out
thanx

For a '00 1.8T, I believe the ranges go from $800-$1800 over invoice paid by people who frequent this board. I paid $1200 over for my '00 1.8T and I think that is pretty average. Below is a link to the invoice and MSRP prices

It's better to discuss and agree to a price and have it clearly stated on a signed order to guarantee it.

If it's too late for that, do some research to determine the dealer's invoice on the car and offer 4% to 6% over. If the car is a popular color with desirable options, the dealer may not negotiate much at all. And it usually takes awhile dealers will discount new models very much. But you have to give it a shot.

If he's not willing to deal, your only option is to get your deposit back and start the process over with somebody else. That may be a painful thing to do. And, if you think about how much your time is worth and how much extra a month it costs to finance a few hundred dollars, it might be better just to take the best deal they'll offer and start enjoying your car.

I paid 6.4% over invoice back when others were getting much better, but I've never regretted my decision. Life is just too short to spend it visiting car dealers.

Good luck.

What dealer in Chicago have you been dealing with? I'm also in the market for an A4. Thanks.

ShoppingMark: I am shopping at Laurel Audi but I checked out Continental Audi also and they had a big selection of 99.5's

I called Chicago dealerships as well. The only way to describe the salesman at Laurel would be rather unflexible about price. If you want a price below MSRP call the dealerships in Milwaukee.
