There's a black RS4 getting around the traps and its totally covered in stickers. All I could really read in the traffic was 'PACE CAR' down the sides in big fluro yellow letters. I saw it in Lane Cove, and another friend saw it in Homebush Bay yesterday. He had a run against it in his 4wd turbo Laser TX3 (running 14psi) and said he did surprisingly well considering his laser is worth $15k and the audi $180k.... not exactly apples with apples though :)

anyone know anything about the car? There can't be that many in Australia yet!

havent seen that one but saw a new black one waiting for delivery at audi parramatta yesterday.

wow - thats about $225000 New Zealand dollars!!!! You guys have gotta be kidding - they cost $159000NZD here - some one is rippin' you off BIGTIME!!!! - and I suspect its not just your government hauling in tax.

BTW the S3 is approx $60000 AUD here too :)
(and no - I don't earn less than I would for same job in Australia even after converting currency)

I know that the S4 Avant is about $115000AUD before on roads and options, so maybe I'm slightly exaggerating, but you kind of get the idea...

and yes I was VERY annoyed a while back when you produced some numbers and a GST rebate which showed your S3 was $51000AUD

As you can see from alpina's posts, we're looking at about $70k over here :(

I had a friend who was in NZ about 2 years ago and picked up some Alpine Car audio gear in a retail electronics store in Auckland (hardly cheap or specialised in car audio) and it was half the cost of the same gear here! I dont know whats going on.... maybe its those bondi based kiwi dole bludgers causing it all hahaha ;-) (just kidding)
