Guys,

Quite a while ago induction kits were a hot topic. Ignoring the fact that they probably add very little to performance, some people had been told that induction kits and the 1.8T engine didn't get along together. In fact I read posts myself on the Performance forum saying that very thing, yet some people were still fitting them.

Anyway, in a recent Revs issue (Aug 2000) there was a MK 2 Golf that had a 1999 Audi A3 1.8T engine in it, Golf Rallye 4wd system, Golf Rallye intercooler, other bits and a Jetex induction cone filter. The car was developed by Awesome Gti, so I sent them an e-mail about the induction kit, asking them if they'd had any problems - such as overheating in standing traffic due to warm air being blown in etc.

This was their response =====

In our experience with the induction kit on the 1.8T, we havent had any trouble with overheating etc and we've had it on long runs on hot days etc... we've never heard of any such probs either so didn't fit it in any particular way to avoid heat.... (see pic attached).

=== end ===

So there you go, I know its just one instance of someone not having any problems, but some of you may want to give one a try.

Let us know if you do.

Cheers,

...specifically said it was an engine from and A3. He's obviously gone out and bought a Golf MkIV engine cover.
