Kosta,
what to you mean by "te-tune"?Have you tuned it already?I guess you are going for the MTM ECU & Exhaust, right?
I still haven't decided on the Tuner, but i will most probably go for Oettinger, the only problem is that they refuse to send me a new ÅCU with their chip, untill they have tried more 2001 S3's in order to make some fine-tuning, since the engine on the MY2001 S3 is different (Engine Code is AMK ans up untill now the S3's had the APY engine). The main reason for the change in the engine is new electronic systems or emissions and efficiancy developments, as far as i could understand.
In addition, i do not know whether you are aware, since AUDI is not advertising it, the latest versions of the 1.8T engine (i think 2000 on-wards),has Variable Valve Timing.

Nikos.

P.S. I have a mail from MTM Greece, hence if you want me to forward it to you, send me an e-mail.

as since chipping my a3 I got to within 800rpm of limiter before I chickened out and I imagine with road long enough it would stop at the rev limiter.

An S3, which has a similar 6th vs A3's 5th and 265bhp, you would probably hit rev limiter at ~155/160mph indicated?

I have retuned my S3 by Digitec and I also replaced my exhaust system with another one from MTM. Several times my speedometer reached 270 km/h, and the Climatronic 261 at times while I had four persons inside the car. Check out www.digi-tec.net/news/index.html

I can imagine the look in their faces...

I still own you a visit to fit that md-changer..

The CD player is OK so far but when the panel is closed I can hear same vibration noises....

Did you change the blow off valve? (I remember you were expecting a FORGE one)

I'm thinking to re-tune ECU now and I'm not sure if I should.

A friend in Germany "pushes" me to do it but 2500-2800 DM is still a lot of money.

You are right about differences in 2001 MY ECU units and engines

Why do you want to keep your ECU and re-tune a new one?

John, i am not let down by the fact that we all got it, that is even better, i just do not understand why AUDI makes no advertising of it...
What i wrote,is what i read somewhere, but i could not find any further information.
I'll do some further research and will post any of my foundings.

in order not to have any problems with AUDI of Greece, and in the case i would like to sell the car at some point, in order to provide the buyer with the option to choose. If i remember correctly, the chip costs about 2800DM and the new ECU with the chip approx, 3700DM, i think it is worth it. If you check the prices of the only the chip, here in Greece you will find that they are much more expensive.
I there wasn't the "problem" with the 2001 engines, i would have already ordered mine.
BTW are you satisfied with the MTM (i.e. Milltek) exhaust?I was thinking of getting that while i was in the UK, but since the car wasn't delivered in time i didn't.Maybe next time...
