I fixed my jammed cigarette lighter problem using the following procedure.
Tools: I used a steel blade feeler gage. These can be found at any store that sells auto tools. It looks like a miniature tongue depressor but is made of steel and usually consists of a selection of blades from .001 to .025 inch thickness.
Procedure: Insert a gage ( use one in the .016 range ) in the bottom edge of the lighter access door. This is the edge towards the back of the car. Try to get a slight angle on the blade as you slip it in. Don't try to insert the gage perfectly vertical but try to angle it so that you are feeding it in a forward moving aft direction. Once you have got about 1 to 1.5 of insertion, using the other hand try to open the lighter door. This is a trial and error process, so don't give up. Try a different thickness gage. It took me about 5 minutes of trials before mine opened. This process left no marks or scuffs on the plastic. Good Luck.
