View Full Version : 1.8t chip problems? Wando 03-12-2000, 12:41 PM can anyone who has had there A3 1.8t chipped respond with there experience, any problems, flatspots, what chip, from where, how much, so that the rest of us unchipped A3's can finally decide which way to go! paul ag-audi 03-12-2000, 01:12 PM for those people in the uk who are considering getting their a3 turbo chipped,my advise would be to go to amd in oxfordshire,i have had alot of cars chipped through them and have nothing but praise for them, their re-chips are first class. David R 03-12-2000, 01:45 PM Hi, This forum has long queried the worth of chipping the a3 1.8t 150bhp engine - can you relate to a specific chip i.e. the AmD 150-190 bhp chip on the a3? If so both myself and others would be delighted for more info regards performance, warranty, driveablility etc... Regards David Wando 03-12-2000, 03:58 PM a supplier of a german chip has told me that he believed that the amd chip was the best of the uk chips, he mentioned a few horror stories from superchips with large flatspots and said that the uk chips tend to adjust the boost and the fueling for max power, whereas the german chips get the same power but work more on the software to improve driveability throughout the rev range, has anyone heard anything similar/different? chris grant 03-14-2000, 12:03 AM My A3 1.8T is booked for a re-chip at AmD next Wednesday 22nd. I am not out for maximum bhp but maximum driveability and torque.Who cares if it produces 185 or 190 bhp @5800 I want it to shift at 3000 revs in 4th or 5th when i'm overtaking. I should be able to post the actual graphs here (? may need some technical help !) but I guess what we all want is actual objective comments. I'll see if I can deliver !! Wando 03-14-2000, 11:14 AM See messages above will post results as soon as I have had the Amd chip fitted. |
