Has anyone else noticed on A3's that after prolonged driving during wet weather the brakes
are ineffective the first time they are used. It's almost as the pads or discs bcome water logged and the inital press of the brake pedal returns them to normal.

It's a 1.8T and was supplied during 10/98.

There are no inner shields on the front brakes, so water is able to accumulate on the rotor. Ever since I had a good scare the first time, I always apply the brakes periodically in rain/wet snow to keep them dry.

I'm a bit confused. This brake fade is somehow not always there. I haven't been able to make sure what are the exact conditions which cause this fade. Wet, snow, temperature, salt, don't know exactly. Sometimes it's there, sometimes not.
