Here's my dilema. I'm looking to order a 2.8 with the sport package but I hate both (7 spoke rims and 10 spoke rim) sport wheels.

I will ask but what are my chances that a dealer will swap them for the classic 5 spokes? Anyone been successful?

I would think they would accomodate me rather than lose a sale.

I tried this with my dealer for the same reason, and they said they can't do it because they can't sell the stock wheels as new after they have been mounted onto the car, regardless if you have never driven it. They offered me $600 for the wheels and tires and that was the best they could do. They told me the 5 spokers cost $1,100 w/o tires!! How's that for accomodating the buyer?! They also said there is no way to get the 5 spokers put on at the factory, they simply will not do it. I'm going to get after market wheels and sell the stocks.
Good luck, let me know if you hear anything different from your dealer.

I would think it all depends on the dealer -ask them, not us.

For info, when I was haggling with a dealer on the purchase of a used Porsche 993, I said I wanted the 16" rims exchanged for the optional 17". They agreed, and installed 17" wheels/tires on car off a new car. Dealer was Stoddard in Cleveland - excellent dealer.

I would think the larger dealers would be more willing to do this than smaller ones. Good luck.

I previously owned a '98 1.8TQMS with the 7 spoke wheels and Dunlops. When I picked up my '99.5, I wanted to trade for the 5 spoke wheels. I ultimately intend to use them for winter wheels. I raved about the quality of the Dunlop tires and they were more than happy to trade. Unless you intend to keep the Dunlops, that is your negotiating tool. They are great "sporty" tires and another buyer would be happy to have the "sport package wheels and tires for free". Good luck.
