I just brought my car in to the dealer for a routine maintenance. I wanted a synthetic oil change, so I brought with me 5 quarts of Mobil 1. When I retrieved my car, I found that they had used only two of the quarts I had supplied them with, but my oil level is normal. Can anyone tell me what they did? Thanks in advance for all replies.

With a filter change, I believe the car will only take about 3.7 quarts of oil. These cars get overfilled constantly, and this is not good. I did a 1000 miles oil change, got home, checked the oil level, and it was 1 inch above the line. I drained a little over a quart out, and the dealer had put in 5 quarts. Which synthetic did you go with? I know alot of posters here like Mobile 1, but I have always had good performance with the Castrol Syntec. I will swith to synthetic at 5K,, I only have 2K now.

when I get them to do my oil change...I give them six....and I get one back. I have done
it about 5 times now.

BTW, not all the audi scheduled services change the oil filter. Most of them don't.

Same thing happen to me several months ago. I suspected the dealer mechanic kept my oil and put in dealership standard (Valvoline 5-30 wt)instead. I figured that he forgot to put my oil in and kept several of my qts to cover himself. I had an oil test performed (took sample from dipstick opening with vacuum pump)which confirmed my suspicion. When faced with the facts the dealership offered to pay for 2 cases of Mobil 1 synthetic and a free gas fillup. I wouldn't accusations without proof. Your situation probably has another reason for the extra oil.

I've been using Mobil 1 since 5k miles, and can't complain about its performance. I'm sure that the difference isn't night and day from any other synthetic, though.

Carlsen doesn't give them back?....Anderson does.
