My brand new A4's transmission went out with appx. 3000 miles on the odometer. According to the dealership (Stevens Creek Audi) it was shipped from the factory with only 1/2 the needed amount of fluid. As expected, the tramission gave out, was dropping in and out of gears, knocking and rolling backward on hills. Their solution to the failure was to fill it back up and let us go. Unfortunately the transmission has never operated the same, have the same pep and smooth transmission between gears and the life of the transmission has been seriously diminished. Audi customer service and the dealership have told us they will not replace the system unless it goes out (again?!) under warranty. They won't even extend the transmission warranty although with the way it is operating I wouldn't expect it to last much longer. I would never buy an Audi based on this experience. They have made it a nightmare for me. This is not at all what I expected when paying for a luxury vehicle.
