I just updated the left frame throughout the site. I removed the 'A4, TT, S4, etc." background image and also made the frame a little less wide.
Hope this helps out a little.

...even though I am running on 1280*1024, the real estate is thin. The old combo box at the top of the forum wasn't as esthetically pleasing, but sure more practical - this way we waste about 20% of useful width just to have a more or less spiffy nav-bar.
I solved it by bookmarking the a4 forum frame, and now I don't have any nav bars and thus no direct access to the other forums, but it is the only way I can use it.
It's a great piece of work, don't get me wrong, maybe just a bit over-designed...

I have sensitive eyes and the blue background on the left frame was getting to me that I had to quit reading the posts.
Your suggestion to save the posting frame as a favorite did the job of giving me a totally clean, fullsize screen with just the single advertising frame on the top.
I just saved the forums page as an other favorite
to jump between forums. I really only read the general foum the most so I can live with the blue left frame on the othe forums
