View Full Version : Chip voids warrenty? Dave 09-23-1999, 03:19 PM i heard from people that if you modify your car any failure of a part attributable to the part you modified is not covered by the manufacturers warrenty. so will the chip void my warrenty? ?????? Reggie 09-23-1999, 04:01 PM you will find many storys of people covered by the warranty with their chips and those who were not. You should look through all the posting and you might find your dealers named mentioned Reggie 98.5 30vQMS Rodney 09-23-1999, 05:00 PM It's as you noted, if the chip causes something to break, it's not covered by warranty...sounds fair to me. However, it doesn't necessarily stop there. SOME dealers will attempt to void the warranty whether the chip caused the problem or not, it's not legal (in my interpretation, but I'm no lawyer), but I don't think there is a precedent yet. The best thing to do is to talk things over with the service manager where you bring your car before you chip, it's a good idea to establish a good relationship with the service dept. anyway.
