If I remember correctly, doesn't the MY2000 A4s come with a full size spare? If so, did Audi redesign the trunk area to accommodate? Or will the 99.5s also hold a full size spare?

Just wondering if I could swap out the donut for a full size spare in my 99.5. Not a fan of donuts.

my rep said don't sweat it, pick up your mobile when you get a flat and they'll come runnin, don't know if trunk dimensions are different...

I would guess there would be a lot of Jettas as Hermosillo is the final assembnly point...stupid logic? (:

Audi started operations in Mexico in 1997, and has sold about 1800 A4's so far. This year, they aim to sell about 1500 cars in total, the A3 has had very good success here, but even then you do not see many of them. Being a higher-end brand, Audi is considered a full luxury brand here, not only because their cars are better than the average, but because we get to pay steep taxes on imported cars. Take a look at www.audi.com.mx, but don't laugh afterwards!

You're right. Jettas are wildly popular, but the assembly plant is in Puebla, a 1 1/2 drive from Mexico city.

On page 37 of the new brochure, it states that the full size spare and alloy wheel is standard. However, the Avants are equipped with the "space saving" temporary spare tire.

As for the trunk space - last year's brochure states the Trunck Volume as 13.7 cu.ft. and the '00 brochure state the same volume (13.7).

Hope this helps,

my 98.5. and the stock bolt is designed for the mini spare. Does anyone know where to get a wheel tie down bolt that is designed for full size wheels?

the part no. is 4A0 803 899 L and I believe the bolt is 110 or 120 mm long. I traded in my short one at no cost.
