I'm looking to eliminate the power steering system in my new project ('98 A4Q body), partly for lightening purposes, partly for ease of assembly. I'm inclined to believe there's a european version of either the A4 ('95-'00) or even the VW Passat ('98-'00) that would've come with non - power steering. Anyone here have better insight? I've checked with a couple of my suppliers and came up empty handed. TIA for any help y'all can give!

I think I recall reading that ZF makes a system so ...

open road would be fine but parking a quattro without power steering would be a feat of magic.
