I have heard good and bad things about most of the dealers in the nocal area. Some people have good success, others not. I have had good success with Carlsen, but others have not. I have bought 4 cars from them in the last 12 years, so maybe that helps. I think dealers tend to take care of their "own" cars first, then everyone else later, (ie cars they have sold). Also people
who have built up a relationship with a dealer tend to get better treatment than others. Most dealers also have good mechanics and bad....... so depending who you get...... In other words, I don't have a good answer for you.

I had a great buying experience at Rector Audi with David Liebenson. I've had positive and negative experiences with service at Carlsen and Rector but my experience at Rector was last year and they supposedly have a new service manager.

At this point in time...I would have to suggest Anderson-Behel in San Jose. They are doing appts 3+ weeks out though...VERY busy...probably because they have some decent mechanics.

I bought my car and have taken my car there for service. The last time, I had the APR chip and K&N filter, along with my rims and tires. They didnt say a word about the chip and complemented me on both my wheel/tire choice along with the custom phone mount for my Nokia 6190.

TEAM-A4technik Homepage (AUDIBOY and A4ALLAN)

Sonnen motors in San Rafael/Marin.

You will be glad you did.

Bought my car from Carlsen, took it in within a month for an AC problem. AC condensor was cracked due to some kind of impact, technically not a warranty issue, but they contacted AoA and it was replaced under warranty. I was skeptical however if it was cracked by impact or just a faulty part to begin with...FWIW

Rector in Burlingame has been getting high marks lately since they changed service managers. Ask for Hector or Dan.

Great service, loaners (warranty work only?), rides to/from SFO, nice job on the car washing afterwards also....and I get appt's within one week most of the time....

Now if my car could magically *pouf* turn into a new S4 while it's in there for service.....
wishful dreaming....

I am surprised you are posting this, given how much **** you and others have received from them. I, for one, will not have them touch my car again, even tho they are right next to my house. It's one thing to give in to tyrany, but they are the worst of what I have seen so far.

They recoded my locks and windows.
Anderson-Behel said they never heard of recoding

Everyone has different experiences.....good and bad...the lesser of the evils is Anderson Behel. You know I cannot go to Carlsen....Sonnen/Diablo/Royal/Livermore and to some extent Rector, are TOO FAR AWAY. I have not gone to Rector yet....but I may.

or did they have it? and did they charge you for it? Just curious about the details.
Last time I was there I forgot to ask for it, but was going to ask about it for my next service.

Thanks,

and given the awful treatment I got in their sales department, I have no plans to use them for service except in an emergency (even though they are 5 minutes from my house).

as you say YMMV.

I've been treated quite well at Carlsen, whereas my only experience with Anderson-Behel (where I actually bought my 1.8T) was entirely unpleasant.

OTOH, Rector has been getting a lot of compliments lately, so there might be the place to go.
