View Full Version : Could the MAF be the culprit to all my problems?

ie. running rich, boost spikes, too much boost (sometimes 25psi steady)

see for yourself...

Boost spikes and the 25psi could be N75. Try cleaning your MAF before replacing it. Then if you still get spikes and high boost, investigate the N75.

...it's all a map for the N75 at that point.

Load is calculated from MAF and RPM, then there is a lookup table using Load and RPM to figure out the injection amount.

Higher MAF = Higher Load = More Fuel

I think the N75 is controlled more by RPM and Throttle Position

Man, what are you cooking back there?? =) There's a very good chance you are burning oil and not fuel. Does the smoke happen only at WOT or at idle too? Could be your turbo seals. Do you have a catch can?

wut do u think would happen if i shoot some brake cleaner spray into the opening where the maf sensor is? >;oD

At WOT, your injector pulse is the same regardless of g/s.

Log it sometimes.

One possibility, is presurizing of crankcase.
If this is so, oil drain from turbo would be also prsurized, and you maybe leaking oil through turbo exhaust then burning it exhaust pipe.

I have.

Have you seen the ECU code?

I have.

The injector is most definately dependent on MAF

You want to be careful with cleaning. Use like windex or something. A search should give you a way to clean it.

...so how is it dependent?

Doesn't mean the MAF isn't used.

With an A/F controller, if I decrease the voltage the ECU sees from the MAF, then the injectors don't open as much, and O2 voltage levels drop.

It works like this:

Load = g/s x 316 / RPM (roughly)

Then Load and RPM are used to get a fuel modifier from the fuel map, and RPM and Throttle Position are used to get another fuel modifer from the

So:

Injection = Load x Load Fuel Mod x TPS Fuel Mod
