View Full Version : Is there any benefit of tying a SPAL fan to a SMIC for additional airflow across it?

Wondering of ways to maximize the existing SMIC's functionality.

I was blowing a pair across a TT FMIC. Another TT'er mounted one on each of his sidemounts (OEM) with little change noted. We both have fully instrumented readouts for IC in and out temps. Here's the fan set-up:

What really works at lowering temps is a Mister set-up. Here's the setup before the fans. Have both now. The misters have a measurable effect on temps.

Stupid question, but what about spraying NOS through a mister system onto the FMIC/SMIC to cool it instead of water? My only thinking is you can mount that bottle in the back, keep your washer container for the windshield, and it will chill the cooler...

Go with the misters for the best bang for your buck. I did my whole system for less than $200

Autospeed article
