View Full Version : Anyone consider anything other than the Turbo XS bpv as the top performer?

Generally speaking the bang for the buck option is the TT BPV, but for all out, reliable performance I think the turbo xs bpv is considered to be the best.

Bailey and Forge have shown to develop problems...been there done that.

I am BPV shopping, and curious if there is another valve out there that I should be considering.

thanks

It had lasted a pretty long time and I do run a lot of boost. Maybe I just got lucky or I am pushing my luck with it. I usually carry a back up BPV when I go to the races just in case it does break. Juan has my TurboXS on his GTI right now and loves it.

spot where the valve was not closing. This gave caused a small lag when drag racing. Juan fixed that problem by putting in more spacers, I guess the spring was just weak from all my racing.

the pn on the 225 tt bpv ends in 710N, and costs $35 at the audi dealership. It's what a lot of the guys I know use...has a stronger diaphram for the added pressure of the 225 hp engine.

I tested a TT valve and it did not hold enough boost for me. The evo valve has held great even with me pushing 1.8 bar(26psi) with the PES T28 kit.

test with the vacuum & the 996 tt bpv will have a 15 lb spring(?) & I think the 710N has a 17 lb one(?). the differences in performance are extremely close, not worth bickering about, but the $ difference makes the choice clear to me. Plus, they're both made by the same company, and the part numbers are nearly identical.

and help firm on 1.8 bar of boost on a T28. I tested the TT valve on a car and it would not hold more then 15psi on a K03. Maybe it was bad straight from the dealer I dont know. But if your going to complain about the difference between $22 and $89 there might be a problem. One valve is made for a car that makes 225 hp while the other one is made for a car that puts out over 400 hp.

I've seen both failed, and have cut both open. There's two on a 996 tt, only one on the 225 TT. Personally, if I were shopping blindly with no concern for the $, I'd go with the turbo xs for functionality, not the bling-bling. But why drop $90 on a bpv instead of $30? oh, YOU sell them?

Just out of curiosity, which turbo do you have on your 350 hp car? I just started another project, & am considering the T4E...

http://www.vwturbo.com/products/details.asp?id=25&cat=4

I am running the PES T28 kit. I will still use the porsche valve when my motor is all done that will be making around 450 hp with the PES kit still on it.

while running at the track on 26psi of boost in 3rd and 4th gear. I ran 106.60 mph which is 2mph slower then lucas did and 6 mph then the lightning did against me. That time slip though was my last run in my car because I was running the car with bad compression in 2 cylinders.

It adjusts by turning it. I also had a Forge and was not thrilled.
