I did a plus 1 wheel upgrade to 18", and had H&R sport springs installed about 6 months ago.
The car was lowered about 2.5 inches
in the front, 3.0 inches in back.
The shop thought it looked a little too low, but they guaranteed all was installed correctly.
Pulling out of the lot, I could hear a thumping sound coming from the rear shock area.
I brought the car back to the shop, and called
H&R directly on the west coast. H&R advised the car was too low, and something was not done correctly, and in fact, they did not even make a spring for A6 4.2. I had the shop install the
oem springs, and brought the car to the Audi dealer. The dealer advised the rear shocks were blown, and the front control arms need replacement due to "self inflicted wounds"????
The dealer replaced the rear shocks, the front control arms, and several other parts in the front end, but they never replaced the front shocks. It could be mental, but the car doesn't seem to handle the same when pushed in a corner.
My lease is up in 5 months, and I am considering buying this car, but I don't know if all these suspension problems were caused by the stupid people at the wheel shop, or if this car is prone to suspension problems.
