I have a new A4 2.8Q w./sport package on order. Can anybody out there tell me exactly what tire will come on that car? My dealer has no clue. We'll be doing lots of snow/ice driving in Colorado Rockies, so cold handling is real important.

I haven't heard any word on the tires for '00, but they will probably be the SP8000's or another highperformance (read summer) tire. If you expect to do extensive driving on unplowed roads and/or ice, get a set of dedicated snows. Remember, Quattro will help you get moving, but won't do squat to help you when it's time to stop.

This is from the photocopy that has the 10-spoke wheels and since the wheels are correct, I assume the tires are as well.

The 2000 A4 brochure notes: "All-season or winter tires are recommended for those who frequently drive on ice or snow."

I driven for two winters on the 8000s but only from work to my home ~ 4 miles. Fort Collins is in the bannana belt here and gets much less snow than Denver or Colo Springs. I have my wifes Grand Cherokee for getting around the first day of the bad snows. But this year I got some 17" rims so I will put some 210s on my 16" 7 spokes next month.
