You are using the thermal energy of the expanding N02 to cool your intake charge, which will help some, but the same volume of NO2 mixed with a proper ratio of fuel woul make a HELL of a lot more power if you burned it instead...

I'd pass on it. If I was going to all of the trouble to plumb a NO2 system, I would not waste it just trying to cool my intake charge. You get that effect for free when you inject it anyway.

Just so you understand. In drag racing you are allowed 2 power upgrades. S/C, turbo and NOS. This other setup is not refered to as a power upgrade. So you can run it with a turbo and nos. Just use co2 and the cost is very low.

When a pressurized gas expands it absorbs heat from the surrounding area (simple explanation).

The best use I remember of this was the early 90's GMC S-15 p/u that GM ran at Bonneville to go over 200 mph without turbos, superchargers or NOS in the engine. They simply put a huge intercooler in the pickup bed, and expanded lots of nitrous across the outside of the IC to cool the intake air which was then ducted to the naturally aspirated 5.0 L V6 (punched out from 4.3L). It produced something like 530+ hp with the intake air around 60 degrees F (or maybe much colder!)and the ambient air around 90-100 F.

The truck went 203 and change! Not bad for a brick.

As for using it on the street or drag strip...it's the only way I'd consider using nitrous on a turbo engine!

That said, I'm not sure about their setup, but it looks like a spraybar which blows on the outside of the IC's.

Yeah, it can work! Bang for the buck=? How fast do you want to go.
