was picking up some techtron to clean out injectors. ask the guy there if there was something better. he suggested 103 octain racing fuel. just a 1/4 of a tank or so mixed with regular gas. he claimed the higher octain burns better, hotter and cleaner, and it will clean all he carbon and other build ups in the engine. is this true i wanna try it ????????????

...race fuel does anything to clean up an engine, however Techron has been proven to reduce injector and valve deposits thru independent testing (BMW owners club sposored the tests I believe).

..I would imagine unless you do something like advance timing (ignite the mixture earlier), or increase compression, you are likely to have unburned fuel using the higher octane mix. Seems to me that incomplete combustion would lead to more carbon buildup, not less.
It is possible that the Bosch ECU can automatically advance your timing enough to take advantage of the higher octane without any unburned fuel, but this has it's limits.

...than racing fuel. In fact, a bunch of unanticipated engineering had to be done when no-lead first became available. Note: I am *not* talking about exhaust valve seats. There were significant problems with exhaust manifold cracks, etc.
Pump gas will also likely have a higher percentage of detergents than racing fuel - and it's the detergents that will clean your engine, not octane. As has already been noted (below), higher octane fuel burns more slowly than lower octane fuel.
I have no idea why this brainless myth won't go away.

i know a few people at audi champion and a few car nuts. they mention things to me so i turn and ask you guys for your input. as for the higher octain .......spoke to a guy who works for a fuel company. and guess what he said. some people use higher octain to clean there engines out. i did not tell him that, he came out and told me after we talked about engine built up and the use of tectron injector cleaner. so there must be some reason people do it ???????

What about a chipped car?

that would burn out all the sensors. only 1/4 of a tank chipped, exhaust, and boost controler
