Seems another Audi owner has performed the mod!
Here's his comments.<ul><li><a href="http://forums.audiworld.com/general/msgs/17036.phtml">http://forums.audiworld.com/general/msgs/17036.phtml</a</li></ul>

Does it work! YES! YES! and a little no. I didn't cut anything, but what I did was made parts rounder and smoother with a dremel, a file and sandpaper. I took the screen out. I won't cut and rebore anything yet until I have a flow tester - basically another "stock" calibrated MAF inline with my modifying one and then I match voltage outputs as a vary my electric blower. Jeebuz, I'm sharing too much ideas on this board he he.
About the current mod I did, I have noticeable stronger pull starting from 3,000 rpm. Kinda feels like a 30V. And! my A/F meter shows a tick mark richer (one more green LED). All the fun ends when I floor it L, because the A/F meter shows that tick mark disappear. It makes sense. Before the WOT switch is activated, fuel is metered by the MAF among other things. At WOT, it is ignored and goes to a standard program with mainly RPM determining the fuel requirements. I have plans to combat that. For now, I am waiting for another MAF before I do.
So keep going with your little project, because unless you try it, you'll never know. Just don't blow up anything ok ;P

Currently my OEM MAF's on a flow bench, and my Audi's strapped to a dyno, looking like a patient in intensive care, with all the wires! We also have a 97 V6 A4 to play with!
Were testing a MAF thats several mm larger than the OEM Audi MAF, and now testing various fuel injectors. Previous engine mods allow us to go with a larger MAF and possibly higher-flow injectors.
Were developing the shape and size of the venturi tube to make this work with stock to mildly modified engines. My engine requires a bit more agressive unit due to its mods.
Things are looking good! All positive results so far!
