I own a 98 A41.8TQMS with 13k miles and chipped with neuspeed at 5k. I have been happy with the results but wishing car had a little more punch. Anyone out there added neuspeed's exhaust plus Ramair? Did you experience improved performance?
Finally, with so many new chips out there, I am interested in experiences with 1 bar other than Wett vs cost. I have been away from the forum for quite some time. Thanks in advance.

John,

I have a Garrett 1.0 bar chip on its way to me as I type this. I also have a GTech in my possession. (: I will try to gather some data with it stock vs 1.0 bar asap. My car is in the body shop now but as soon as I get it back I will try to start testing. I'll post results.

The APR 1 bar was pretty awesome, but I had had pinging issues between 3,000 and 4,000 rpm. The only way for me to get around this was a significant mixture of 100 octane racing fuel with the regular 92 octane. They gave decent customer service and said that they could do a custom chip that would not ping. they also said that the had a special chip for california given the heat and poor gas. In the end i went with the neuspeed chip because the I got it free and the APR was $600 and I didn't want to hassle the long distance relationship. All in all I'm happy with Neuspeed, but evetually I will want more power.

Pulls strong in all gears, but is very nice in the high revs. Don't want to shift to the next gear. A couple draw backs I have noticed. A slight chugging when in 5th gear accelerating below 45 mph. I wish the gear ratios where a bit different in the A4 and I need a 6th gear, 3600 rpm at 80 mph is too high.

I had the K04 on my last 1.8T til the car was totalled. It's now sitting in the garage awaiting the successful and mellow break in of my new 1.8T avant. IMO N'speed makes the best K04 package for the $$.
