I want to get some new brakes for my S4, but Im not sure whos I want to get. Ive heard get stuff about the Alcons but they seem expensive. I have also been looking at the Stoptechs. And Id like to check out a Porsche Turbo (Big Red) kit but Im not sure who sells them. I dont want to spend over 3,000 and I will be doing a little track driving. Thanks for the help

At Turbo5 we carry all of the brake packages you have mentioned. Here is my take on each of them...
Porsche - These brakes are not commonly used on and are very hard to find for an S4. I would not recommend them for the S4 because of its added weight. An A4 weighs pretty close to the 911 that these brakes were designed for (around 3300 lbs for a 911 cabrio or auto) and an S4 may overwork them.
Stoptech - A very nice setup. Although they are not on our page yet, we do carry the line. This is a fantastic bang for your buck upgrade. The rotors are also top notch. For $1995.00 it really is a great deal. If you don't want to spend over $3000 this is the way to go. They are fully sealed for street use and great for the track.
Alcons - definatley the best braking system out there. It is expensive and you will spend closer to $4k but if you have the money, this is the way to go on an S4. We have a full line of these kits from Vortrag motorsports with many different caliper and rotor choices. The performance really is amazing.
Feel free to drop me a line anytime... phone or email.
HTH,
the stoptech's sound like the best all around deal. Thanks for the help

I'm looking for good brakes for my A4. I tried to get Alcon's from Vortrag but was messed over pretty badly. I'd avoid them.
The setups I'm considering are Mov'it (www.ultimategarage.com) 2Bennet (www.2bennett.com) and BIRA (www.bira.org). There are also kits from Camra Motorsports using AP Racing calipers, PES using Tarox calipers and RPI using Willwood calipers. I believe APR is entering the game soon too.
If you want StopTechs, check the classifieds. A guy I know up in Seattle is selling his kit.
Good luck,
Rich

as most of you may know I'm only in my second month working with Vortrag. In my process of getting acclimated with how things work, I have to say I dropped the ball with getting things ordered properly and in time for Rich L. Some of our vendors work differently with how they like things ordered, especially the over-seas companies, with wire transfers and what not, I just simply screwed up. I learned a valuable lesson and will try my best to never let a mistake affect anyone outside Vortrag Motorsports again.
Rich, I apologize. I hope I didn't foul up your plans for your car nor your joy of ownership and fun you planed on having. I too am an enthusiast and can understand the let down you felt from my mistake. I am very sorry.

As a result of this thread, Jason of Vortrag and I have come to an agreement. We're both happy to be taking a second try at my brake purchase.
I've appologized for dragging their name through the muck. This forum really is a great resource to the Audi community. The involvement of the tuning companies is invaluable.
Sincerely,
Rich L.
