Lucas,

Why don't you give the ITG carbon fiber airbox a try. I have it on my Stage III+ and can definitely feel the difference.. ITG claims a 9% increase in power from the box.

excuse me for my ignorance, I should know what it is. BTW is that an APR manifold I see?!?! WOW that is awesome!! IS that a gt turbo I see?!?! Please tell me how you like the set-up. TIA Mike

The can that you are refering to is simply an oil catch can. Instead of routing the oil back into the intake it goes into the can.

Yep I have the APR Stage III+ setup.. with the gt turbo setup. The setup is very nice! POwer is just awesome... Just say I can pull away from a MTM chipped S4 easily..

kind is it ? Is it an expensive mod? Did you install it yourself?

Jeff F introduced us in Danvers. I had the Pearl a few cars down from you near the big door. Anyway...

Oil catch for what? I'm thinking about this very setup in about a year and a half. I need to collect my funds first. I've done just about everything short of a new turbo and FMIC since I got the thing last October. But I'm trying to move to Boston soon and am currently saving for a landlord to put his hand in my pocket and start pulling...the $$$ folks! Dirty minds!

Anyway, does that air box pull from the fender? I'm sure I'll have more Qs for you as the 3+ looms nearer. I'd love a ride sometime.

I'm doing a Stage 3 or a 3+, I was under the impression that the stage 3+ was more for track use and the stage 3 was a more "street drivable" setup. I probably won't get on a track, and if I did, not too often. I was thinking of going with the Stage 3 and FMIC when APR puts this together for the MY2000.

I find the car very streetable.. I drove my friends bone stock A4 and when I get into my car I hardly feel any turbo lag at all.

The advantages of the catch can is very minimal.. No performance gain at all. The only reason I did this is because I don't like the old setup where the oil is routed into the intake, and it then sits at the bottom of the intercooler.

The catch can is from Canton, you can find it in race catalogs.. Yes install was done by myself, very simple install though....

The catch can is just a setup so the oil does not get routed back into the intake tract. When I took out my stock intercooler there was a lot of oil at the bottom of the intercooler, so I decided on a catch can setup. The setup is rather inexpensive.. Just the catch can a couple of fittings and thats it..

The air filter pulls in, or should I say has a ram air effect from the front of the car. There is a hose that connects to the front and directs air into the box.

Sure on the next just ask I would be glad to give you a ride..

I'd like to make a custom box that feeds air fro the (unused/blanked off) passenger air intakes up to a decent panel filter. I have the LLtek intake, and it is OK, but the sharp end of the tube sticking into the cone filter leave me cold. I'd rather have a large panel filter and a velocity stack.

Ideas?

Apparently you still have the link to your registry link to the old URL (a4.org). I looked at Mark's signature and edited the URL and voila! :)

Dmak's registry

It is not true that a cone will have more area.

Area is NOT the limiting factor.

I do however want ot have an intake trumpet, with a radius of trumpet >= to diameter of intake tube to get smooth entry of air into the pipe/MAF
