View Full Version : ABT K-16 Kit (285 hp) Paul Days 11-02-2000, 10:46 PM Anybody has anymore info, I read this of an A4 1.8T with this kit in Sport Compact Car, anybody got more info? Paul Days Y2k Passat 1.8T nwong 11-02-2000, 11:04 PM What info were you looking for? As far as I know, the K16 isn't the normal K16 that you buy from KKK ... I believe Abt/AMS modified the K16 somehow. Most likely to flow more air than in stock trim. Also, the kit is rumored to be very expensive! QuattroSnail (JuanM. 11-02-2000, 11:39 PM OK here we go! ABT has 2 kits Stage 4 and Stage 5 which both uses the K16 turbo. Here is what the kit consists of.... Chip, FMIC, Filter, MAF, Injectors, Catconverter, 67mm cat back exhaust, FPR, Frequency valve, Sparkplugs, Exhaust Manifold, Intake Pipe, Clutch disk, Clutch plate, Turbo oil lines, and last but not least the K16. The K16 can handel up to 2 bar of boost that is the max it can squeez at 2 bar it is way out of its ef range. the Stage 4 is the 265HP version it uses all the parts listed above boost is about 24-26psi, peak is 26 @ around 4,000 rpm. Stage 5 is the 285HP which uses a bigger K16. This is a K16 only available to ABT through 3K. This is like a hybrid turbo, they take the OEM K16 and tweak the compressor side with more aggressive wheels. PSI is the same 24-26 but the key thing here is VOLUME! it flows more than the regular K16 thats where it gets it's power. the Turbo lags abit it doesn't start kicking your A$$ untill 4,000 thats when it wakes up after that watch your 7K red line light up! I am currently debating if i should continue with this or not i am 50% there i have most of the parts to install. just need some cash for the actual install and minor parts. Price expect about 10K for stage 4 and about 12K for Stage 5. is it worth it???? don't know yet but the AMS car is SICK!!!!!!!!! APR's kit seems resonable for 5-7K but performance wise i don't know how they will compare??? I know this the guy that is on the MAX Power Mag i invite him to compete with my car when the K16 is in according to him the car will get the APR Stage 3+. I am going to work something out with Max Power to do a back to back with both cars..... Juan M. I have group buys going on...... RS-4 Grills US 77 porsche big brake upgrade 2200-2300 QuattroSnail (JuanM. 11-02-2000, 11:43 PM i for got to tell you one more thing if you want the K 16 used for either stages i can get them Stage 4 1500 Stage 5 2140. these Turbo's are for the ABT kit only you can't use the turbo with some custom chip and expect it to work. the Stage 4 you can but not Stage 5. Ray Khan 11-03-2000, 04:40 AM stage 4. People think the APR stuff is expensive, who would pay 10K for the ABT. BIG NIPPER 11-03-2000, 08:27 AM is considered the only way to go in some countries. It's tuning programs are extensive and by far one of the largest aftermarket tuners in the world. Ray Khan 11-03-2000, 04:59 PM KenHuglr 11-05-2000, 07:46 AM ABT has a huge racing program in Germany that Dwarfs oettenger, MTM, and probably all the tuners here combined. They build and race tons of VW/Audi. Look at any race Audi race and you will see the ABT logo and same goes with the Lupos. Ken Huggler Paul Days 11-05-2000, 11:20 PM Hey Huan, where are you from?, Latin? Well, listen, the thing is that there is a Tiptronic A4 here in the Dominican Republic with a K-16 Set-up, the car wont shift in Auto. so he can only use the car in Tip. But here is when my mouth fell down....He smoke a 1995 BMW M5 at the track, so I'm interested, he's said he was running up around 250-260hp. Let's share info, because I am interested but he told me he spent about 3500K!!!! The turbo he got for 750! Paul Days 11-05-2000, 11:22 PM DOes that price include the chip? HJB 11-06-2000, 01:54 PM |
