It really seems better if you can somehow adapt the adjusting chain tentioner found on the 2.8's and 2.7T's, and have variable intake timing or fix it to a more advanced position, no?

Oh yes, for other folks, this is because the timing belt drives the exhaust cam and a chain connects the two together

Heck, I just had another idea. You can have someone fabricate a chain tensioner such that you can slack the chain (top vs bottom) to provide more advanced position. Same effect as positioning an adjustable cam sprocket - for the intake at least.

timing by itself to compensate at different RPMS. This is what my tech told me. I am not sure, maybe he is a full of ****.

Lucas has an older car, only the 2001 has the variable valve timing. I forget which cam it moves, but it only has 2 positions.
