When the climate control on my 98.5 is in Auto mode, the compressor indicator is allways on...even at freezing temps outside. Is this normal behavior?

The outside temp had to drop below 30 before pushing the Auto button did not bring the compressor online. Wierd behavior. Is this normal? The A/C cutout I can live with - it makes some sense; the recirc bit is just plain nasty. Give me some credit, Audi, I can figure out when and when not to engage recirc!
I would be _very_ happy to find a tuner who could defeat both the low-temp A/C lockout circuit and the recirc with A/C only bit. I'm aware that the A/C would not be effective for long periods of time during snowflake conditions, but I find it hard to believe that the compressor - sitting in a rather hot engine bay - wouldn't be able to keep going at less than snowflake conditions, at least for long enough to clear the windshield of fog.
--Greg
|
