View Full Version : My autoshop screwed up my threads in my rotor. What needs to be done for repair and how much??

I know I should go back to the guys who originally did this but its been too many years. So every year when I swap tires, I go through the grulling task that pnuematic guns have trouble with. I just had my rims straighten out and the mechanic there side that I need new rotors, which sounds pretty drastic. Is this true?? What are the alternatives and how much should I expect to pay.

Many thanks

I mangled one of mine last year when I put the winter wheels on. The dealer re-tapped the threaded holes in the rotor. I think they charged me for about an hour's labor, a lot cheaper than new rotors. Unfortunately I also bunged one of the wheel lock bolts and had to buy another set of those too.

Good luck.

that is easy (and cheap!) to replace, the part that was damaged is the wheel hub.
