98' 1.8, chipped. I've noticed a loss of power in the 3200 rpm range. Prior to the problem I had two surge points, one at 3200 and the other at 4100 rpm. The car still is quicker than stock but there is a NOTICABLE change in power. I've had no "check engine" lights, hoses aren't leaking, wastegate rod is fully operational, and the dealer could find nothing. In fact there reponse was.. "its seems quicker than most". The car is just s l o w e r ! Should I be looking for a problem elsewhere? i.e. fuel injectors, throttle, clutch, etc... I would REALLY appreciate any help or guidance. THX.

What chip do you have? Stick or auto, Do you have a turbo gauge? How many miles on your car. I may have some ideas, but I need more info. How long have these problems been noticable?
Thanks for ANY input you can offer. TAP stage1. I've sent the ECU back to have them (TAP) test it also. They were very accomodating, they tested it on the VAG unit and reported on problems (same thing the dealer said) They swapped it out, sent it back and I have the same issue. I have 16K and I noticed roughly 500 miles ago. Stick trans and well taken care of. I also, since the inception of the problem have noticed a very slight vibration in the gas pedal. VERY SLIGHT but it started at the same time. Again! thanks for the help!

I had a bad coolant temp. sensor that gave me problems. at first all that happened was it ran rough for a few miles, no check engine light at that time, but later the light came on and stayed on. I had a Tap chip and it lost about half it's power due to this sensor. If your light comes on it will make it easier for the dealer to find. Untill you get more concrete symptoms it may be hard to find.
