96 A4 quattro check engine light came on at 30434 miles.. ive only owned the car since 28K miles.. is this light programmed to come on at or around 30K miles?? can I drive it for say another 300 miles before service? if it is just a maintenance interval light?

There are many causes, check these out first before you panic:
1. Make absolutely sure you gas tight is tight,make sure you hear some clicks, open it and then close it again.
2. You may have gotten a bad tankful of gas, it happens! Runt the tank down and put in some new gas from a different station. I think the car is pretty sensitive to bad gas and the light goes on.
