I just picked up a silver A4 yesterday (99.5). Today in the bright sun, I notice a blemish in the paint around the 1.8T badge. It looks like solvent or something was ued to install the badge and it damaged the surface. If the sun doesn't hit it in the correct direction, you can barely see it. There are about 4 other spots on the car where this is visible (some near the bump strip on the door). Its nothing that you can feel by running your finger over it. My guess is it was sometype of solvent that might have damaged the clear coat.

I can see it now.,.....Im going to get it fixed and it will end up peeling 3 yrs from now.

Anyone seen this before.........?

Thanks, Joe

pre 99.5 (not light silver) there were blemishes on the paint reported by some people. Myself included. There was a TSB on it I believe (although I can't remember it, sorry) and it is easily fixed without the need to repaint. On my car they just sprayed some solution and it wiped off. A couple months later I noticed small traces of the blemish on the a piller and used some cleaner wax to get it off. I've also heard the use of a heat gun to remove the blemish as well.

Take it back to your dealer immediately. I'm sure you will be able to work it out. Good luck.

I had the exact thing above the washer for my right headlight, except mine had some texture to it. I took it to my dealer, and the detail department buffed it out, looks good as new.

I had similar blemishes in the clearcoat. Mine were patches where the clear coat was dull. They had angular edges which made me wonder if they were residue from the protective film they put on the body panels during shipping. Check the archives-- someone recommended Meguiars Gold Class Clear Coat Prep. I tried it and it worked very well. The dull patches disappeared. A couple of them took two applications. I would be careful not to rub too much though. Don't want to fix one problem and create another.
