Perhaps this is a dumb question, but i rather make it and be better informed before I go out and buy something wrong.

When lowering the A4 using a separate spring/strut combinations. Is repacing the OEM struts necessary? or could I go with aftermarket springs using the OEM struts.

Is anyone using this combination that could comment on ride quality. What are you using? progressive or fixed rate springs?

1.8T FWD M, APR on the way, considering lowering.

If you have the OEM Sport shocks then I think you would be OK. But if you have the non-sport shocks I would udgrade them to Bilsteins or Konis.

While it is possible to achieve better performance with replacing the springs (only mild change) eventually the struts will wear out earlier. Then you have to replace those too - no savings 'cos you pay twice for labor.

Do it right, do it once.
