I've been through the archives and it seems like there's no real answer to the continuing problem of optical distortion on the A4 windshield and no-one has posted a clear solution.
I know personally that it's a continuing problem for Audi: my '98 A4 is in the shop right now getting its FIFTH windshield (the first one, Audi agreed to replace because it had particularly bad distortion in the bubble area folks talk about on the passenger side under and to the right of the mirror; the second one, I rejected (and Audi agreed) because the vertical ripple in the driver's view area was HORRIBLE; the third one, the dealer rejected because it had the bubble distortion AND it was chipped; the fourth one was so bad with the vertical ripple that the dealer didn't even ask me to look at it).
I'm about at the end of my patience. Does ANYONE have a GOOD aftermarket supplier they're really SATISFIED with? Who and how do I get in touch? I'm getting awfully tired of driving a (yecch) Chevy Cavalier rental while Audi putzes with the windshield.
TIA.
-- jgr
