I finally have an A4, after looking for weeks for a used A4 1.8 TQM, I HAVE ONE!!!. It even has the sport suspension with the 5 spokes ( Glad to not have the sevens ) I LOVE this car, and and after driving it home this evening I know why all of you are complaining about the lack of red instruments on '00 A4's. The red instrument lighting is wonderful.

After a miserable experience with another dealer I have the car I want and am glad to finally have it. Now the fun begins, picking the right chip, finding leather seats, adding a sport grill, perhaps even some debadging. These are the kind of problems I like to have.

but the 1997 "Sport Package" does NOT include the sport suspension. Unless the previous owner retrofitted the suspension components, your car has the following:
>Sport Steering Wheel
>Sport Seats with Jaquard Satin
>16in 5-spoke wheels with all-season tires

The sport package as it exists today started in the 1998 model year.
Take a look in the "Model Guide" for yourself. I also know this because I have a '97 with Sport and have done the retrofit.

Mark,

Thanks, I guess I can add the springs at some point and it gives me a good excuse to put bilsteins or koni's on. Are the sway bars really much different?

Just having the 5 spoke wheels is worth it to me, along with new Yokohama AVS S4's

I don't believe any mods were done on this car as it just came off lease but is in like new condition.

Are the sway bars really much different?

I've retrofitted the entire sport package suspension from a 98.5 to my 97 1.8Tqms. The stock sways were as follows:

Front: 28mm hollow
Rear: 12mm solid

The "Sport" package swaybars I purchased from Clair Parts are as follows:

Front: 28mm solid
Rear: 16mm solid

Hope this helps.
