A friend of mine who is about 6'3" commented after numerous adjustments to my A4 driver seat that he thinks he is too tall for the car. Anyone have any experience with this issue?

My car has manual seats and NO sunroof.

I am 6'3" and I have no problem in the car. I have the power seats and sunroof and I am still comfortable with leg and head room. I do have to say the A4 is the most comfortable car for its size and one of the most comfortable overall.

I tried to get a car sans sunroof for extra clearance, but they just weren't available in Colorado. I think the power seats are key to getting a proper adjustment. I fit fine, but with only about an inch of clearance.

It's not total height, but torso length that is the determining factor. I am 6'2" and have a long torso and I barely fit a sunroof, man. sportseat car. I have to tilt open the sunroof when I wear a helmet.

The sportseats are not particularly comfortable for us tall folks either for that matter. Hey Audi, how about some really adj. seats???

I'm 6'4" with a long torso, I fit perfectly into my '97 A4 with a sunroof, but I also have the sport seats - they may make a difference. I would say if I was another inch taller I might not be so comfortable.

I just rake back the seat more...very fun for competitive driving (cruzin in style). My M2 helmet is taller that my old Shoei...so it is currently worse. The 2.8 seats are taller...the old 1.8T Jacquard seats go the lowest and are the best for long torso folks.

Well luckily I'm getting hunched over creating a web site and learning OSX, so that pesky roof shouldn't bother me too much longer. I'm sorely tempted to get an aftermarket Recaro and drop the seat an inch. Too bad I don't have the cash for all that.

How do you like the helmet? I've been trying to find a nice open eyeport helmet myself.

Are you going to get an S4 or what?! I really can't say the cost/performance issue works out too well, but how else can you get the 6spd?

Sunroof and electric seat are not really possible. The height adjustment on the manual seat is great. Need to recline the seat to an alarming angle.

How are you going to drop the seat ny an inch with recaro seats. I am about to order a new car without a sunroof. But, if new seats would solve my dilemma - that would be cheaper.

There is no way I can fit with a helmet. No helmet my hair touches. I do have a West Coast required sunroof. (irony here.)

Home of Skip Barber Dodge driving school. Shoulda got a haircut! I haven't had a haircut in a while, but I haven't sat in an A4 in twice as long. Haven't sat in my own Audi in over a month, well one of two. That should change tomorrow.

The Recaros are $800-900us, the sunroof delete is a discount. How can you save money with the sunroof?
The Recaros that fit me have a side mount option. You remove the old tracks and the sidemount lowers as far as you want. Caveat, I went to Michigan to the showroom floor and only found 1 Recaro that fit me (SPG/racing). If you try them by freight exchange you may be out a bundle in shipping.
