I went running the other day and passed a house that I have noticed in the past always had 2 Volvos in the driveway. Well this time I noticed a small sharp looking wagon in the driveway. After doing a double take, I realized it was a V40 although it had no badges on it or any identification. Since Volvo's US HQ is located in the area, I thought maybe this guy works for Volvo and ran up his driveway to get a better look (and maybe get noticed so I could get an answer).
The exterior of the car is very good looking and has a rounded back and tail which looks very similar to the Avant. From looking into the windows, the interior dimensions looked to be on par with the A4 and the interior was nice looking, although the dash didn't look as good as the A4's. It looked like a Volvo on the inside, but the exterior was quite a bit more striking than I expected.
I never saw anyone so I didn't get an answer to why it was there. Overall, I think the V40 is going to be a worthwhile competitor in the small wagon market (although this one was an automatic, they should offer manuals). Volvo has a good market share in wagons that I think will give them an initial boost. I like the idea of better competition, just makes Audi work more to provide better products.
