View Full Version : BOB B, I need to know where you got your wheels for your car from. thanks Steve S.:) Leo 01-10-1999, 03:26 PM Bob B 01-10-1999, 07:45 PM Leo,
If I'm the Bob B your searching for, I have Zender Monza 17x7.5 wheels on my A4, with several photos in the Picture Poster. Pirelli P7000SS 225/45-17s are mounted.
I got them a year ago from AUTOTECH, San Juan Capistrano, Ca, tel# (949) 240-4000, fax# (949) 240-0450. AUTOTECH is the USA distributor. Cost at that time was $289 ea. + tax & UPS shipping.
AUTOTECH advertises in European Car Mag and their web site is www.autotech.com.
Bob B
98.5 2.8 QTS nealr 04-12-1999, 08:20 AM A4 owner 04-12-1999, 09:18 AM christine s 04-12-1999, 12:04 PM These are just my own little opinion, I drove both cars also in the last 2 months and decided on the Audi, but here's my comments for whatever they're worth to you.
Pluses of the 328:
+ xenon lights
+ memory driver power seat
+ handles great on most roads (except snowpacked, see -'s)
Minuses of 328:
- several thousand dollars more than the A4 (even though it can be bought for 4% over
invoice also, invoice on the bimmer is WAY more than the audi)
- scheduled maintenance covers oil,etc only about every 10K miles (other than that you
pay for oil changes etc yourself if you want to stick to 3K miles)
- rear wheel drive- some argue it's fine in snow, but firsthand experience with Lake Tahoe,CA
EVERY WEEKEND THIS YEAR (except 2) I know that FWD/ AWD/ 4WD is much much
much preferable
- no automatic climate control (standard package)- only a 4-position fan control
- NO VARIABLE WIPERS. Always pisses me off about a $40K car- the intermittent position is limited to one speed...
- the alarm system is noisy (the tweeps when you activate it/ deactivate it) and annoying in the early a.m. to neighbors
Pluses of A4:
+ several thousand dollars less than 328i (what I'm comparing is the 328 sedan, new 1999 version, to the A4 2.8 1999.5 version)
+ standard seats in the car are very close to the sport seats, and the adj. lumbar support in both
front seats is awesome!
+ scheduled maintenance more frequent intervals so less oil changes etc out of pocket
+ dealers willing to sell at 4% over invoice, or less- ask me for my dealer's info....
+ interior console and instrumentation easy to see and lots of buttons to play with
+ Bose Stereo w/ CD player is also 000's less than the Bimmer's Harmon-Kardon uipgrade with the CD player added in later (CD player not offered on Bimmer except dealer-add)
+ QUATTRO RULES the road, especially when the road conditions change from dry to wet to snow pack to loose snow to ice in one 4-hour trip (CA skiing is crazy this time of year)
+ the built-in ski bag in the winter package is great and easily holds 195 cm skis (also a minus tho- where do ya put yer BOARD??)
Minues of A4:
- Hmmmm been an owner a week now, can't think of any......
Oh, ONE minus- the "headturningquotient" of the car is low to none (I had a bright blue convertible until 2 wks ago), but this is a plus in disguise, as I was weaving along I-80 last night back towards San Fran at a cool 90 mph and went AROUND a CHP, he didn't even notice me (too busy with his Starbucks??) :)
Good luck, EITHER car is great and it depends on your specific needs and cash flow....

More 04-12-1999, 01:11 PM Sean 04-12-1999, 01:15 PM Thank you very much for all of your comments.
Sean Hans 04-12-1999, 01:19 PM I'm on my second Valley-Pan gasket, which was leaking horribly..has anyone encountered the same problem? foster 04-12-1999, 01:21 PM Hi!
Can you please let me know which dealers would do 4% or less over invoice?
you email me too at fost3r@hotmail.com
Thanks! AudiPutz 04-12-1999, 01:44 PM (nt)
christne s 04-12-1999, 02:14 PM My dealer, just outside San Francisco, CA, was GREAT and gets 100% on customer service from me- ordering, delivery, loaner car, all done very smoothly and cleanly. Got a great interest rate from Audi Financial also....here's the salesperson's info:
David Leibenson
Online Manager / Brand Specialist

RECTOR MOTOR CAR COMPANY
1010 Cadillac Way
Burlingame, CA 94010
M-F 9-6 Sat 10-6 Sun 11-5
available other hours by appointment

(650)348-0111 extension 122
leib@rectorcars.com
http://www.rectorcars.com
I communicated almost exclusively via email w/ my salesman, so I had updates continuously on the status of the car, the financing/ paperwork, etc etc. I don't want to keep putting plugs for one place on this board, but when you get a positive experience in buying a car (something you expect to be akin to pullin teeth w/out novacaine) you haveto tell EVERYONE about it....
:)
Lori 04-12-1999, 05:35 PM christine s 04-12-1999, 06:54 PM The Z hugged the curves a little tighter, but it's a MUCH lighter 2 seater and had those monster 225/60ZR16 wheels versus our sport packages' 205/60ZR16. The Z had more initial oomph in acceleration, but is more like a small whiny engine compared to the low roar of the A4. Accelerating on the freeway (65 to 90 mph) the A4 is smoother and you don't have to back down out of 5th gear to pull this off. The A4 changes lanes almost too quickly for me, and there is almost no side to side "sway " which is great (sport package must be the key here).
I loved the Z, but alas nowhere to put skis, bikes, or my SO (significant other)'s 6-year old daughter.
Silly thing the Z comes with those stickers that say "young children should ride in the rear seats".
Um, well, it's a 2-seater, so does that mean the trunk?
Ha ha um, that's not funny....
Oh Yeah 04-13-1999, 04:20 PM Who are you? Waka Waka 12-11-1999, 11:39 AM Chris 12-11-1999, 09:09 PM hey waka waka, why don't you try being helpful. I didn't ask the question for my health or yours!!! Waka Waka 12-11-1999, 11:53 PM |
