My 96 was originally purchased in July 96 and is almost reaching 30,000 miles.
I know the anti-freeze is long life coolant and I don't have to have it changed,
but I'm wondering if I should get it changed for peace of mind since I'm planning
to keep the car for a long time.
I checked the archives and people said it's a personal decision like oil change interval.
Any advice?
Nozomi
P.S.
It's 28F in NYC right now. :-(

New windshield wipers (like usual), but nothing else out of the ordinary. I'm getting bummed that I'm getting closer to the end of my maintenance coverage then the beginning...
Jason

Mine is scheduled this week, also. If I encounter anything interesting, I'll post it.

Just be sure the service staff type in that the air filter is NOT to be replaced (and make sure you clean it yourself). I think I repeated that about 5 times before I left my car there for the day..
I've never received any indication of what's been done on my "Audi Advantage" work from the dealer beyond a verbal "check the owners manual", and a printed "30,000 mile maintenance performed" on the invoice, and that is extremely frustrating to me. Mentioning this to the service manager and offering a solution hasn't changed anything. Every service on my Acura resulted in a checklist being generated that showed me exactly what was done, and i REALLY wish Audi would follow their example. What is actually done at the maintenance services is quite a mystery to me. "checking the manual" doesn't prove to me that anything was actually done on my car the day I brought it in.... Also, the Acura techs seemed to go out of their way to really check over the whole car for little things like leaking gaskets, etc. to replace for me under warranty. At all 5 of the Audi dealers I've visited on my travels (and I realize this is dealer-specific), I'm lucky to even get the car back on time, let alone have them go out of their way to help me. Maybe I'm whining, but there is definitely not the "Acura level" of customer service at any of the 5 Audi dealers that have serviced my car.
Seems Audi customer service guidelines promote kissing your ass in the afterglow of the sale to "Get 'excellent' ratings" on the Audi customer survey (How many times did the salesman get excited about that survey), and then drop down to chevy-level service after that. Perhaps I'm wishing for way too much, but I just wish the Audi service people cared about my car even a tiny bit as much as I do....
Rich
'98 2.8Qsport
52k happy miles and counting..

They said....
"Mr. Quinlan, your car is fixed...we had a little problem with your ECU (TAP Stage III), so we replaced it. We changed your (ABT) oil filter for a nice paper one, oil (Mobil One) for some Pennzoil 15-40W, and swapped out your brake fluid (ATE Super Blue) for the OEM Audi stuff. Oh yeah....we saw some rubbing on your tires, so we took the liberty of raising up your car a bit. She's ready to go....enjoy!"
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Sorry, my mind started playing out these weird scenarios. Probably cause I'm scheduled for a trip to the dealer in 7-8 days for the 30K service.
Steve S.
97 2.8QM

then BMW went into the ditch on the exit off-rampl Luckily, there was an Autumn Red 96 A4 2.8 Quattro following the Bimmer on that shortcut exit. The friendly Audi owner saved the E46 328 sports package from the ditch.
That's real story cause few years ago when I was still driving an E36 318 on the snow even with snow tires in January. That damn car went into the ditch without any throttle inputs, I lifted off the throttle/2nd gear every time on the on/off-ramps and corners in the snow. Believe this, a Subaru Loyale pulled me out of the ditch. If anyone can put a Subaru Loyale wagon pulled a grey BMW E36 out of the ditch on the photo, its the exact the same story as mine. BMW owners should not get uncomfortable because of their poor snow weather traction despite DSC III, ASC+T or even snow/winter tires, cause its pretty normal.

All balls no show. I simply meant that it was not an actual photo of the aforementioned act. Better than posting something more creative, I could just not incite these sorts of wars, like yourself. Go stir up trouble elsewhere.
