I've had the chip replaced twice and both times now its been delivered back to me with the power expected out of the chip. They have both lasted different lengths of time (the first 4 months and the second 1 month) before I was reduced back to stock performance. The company (it will remain nameless) has replaced them free of charge in both cases. The dealer has read NO fault codes. Anyone else with this problem?

I have had power drop back to stock due to a incorrectly programmed chip.
This also came up with fault codes using VWTOOL.
Only replacing the chip with another version chip corrected this problem.
Next time try replacing the stock chip for a few miles and then go back to your "performance?" chip.
Rocko, I have just chiped my 1999 1.8tqms and find that after about 1500 miles it seems like the power is not as strong as when first done.I do not want to mention the tuner on the forum. Please e-mail me so that we can discuss this matter.

Andre, I have the stage II from TAP as you know, and have noticed that on very cold days, low 20's and lower,my chip makes less boost. At first I was not sure as my gauge was reading about 10 to 11 psi when I normally get 13 to 14psi. I watched it for a few days and noticed the other day when the temp. went back up that things went to normal again. I am not sure why this might be happening, but fuel mix is my best guess. You really need to get a Turbo Press gauge to monitor it properly. I think I recall you put in a 10 to 11 psi chip, so if it looses3 or 4 psi as mine seems to, it will feel like stock. Give me a call if I can help.
