I've tinted the last two cars I've owned (both Hondas). Never had any problem (used 3m brand) with fading but my girlfriend complained that it was hard to see out the rear due to "blurring". I'm curious if tinting materials have improved at all over the past 5 years or so.

Also, if anyone has pics of a Silver A4 or Avant with Metallic Tint, I would really appreciate seeing them! I really want to tint the rear windshield and rear windows.

I tinted mine the day after I got it home. I have tinted every car I have owned (6) over the last 15 years and can safely say that the technology has improved. My Avant got 35% all the way around and provides for very clear vision fron the inside. It's of a metallic (titanium) variety so it has a slightly chrome(ish) look from the outside. It's the first I've done with other than flat black and I think I would prefer the black look on my B. Black A4. Might be different on your Silver. Check out FormulaOne web site for more info. They've got a killer lifetime warranty that is serviceable at any of their nationwide dealers and can even be transferred to the new owner when you sell your car.
