To Chip or not to chip??

That is ot the only question. I am sure every reader/poster here will agree that if you want increased performance you'll have to put in a chip. But whos???
What is the best, most reliable, least detrimental chip to buy?
TAP, Wetterauer, Neuspeed, APR ???


Also,
I am a new a4 avant owner in the philadelphia,PA area - anyone know of good mechanics/speed shops in the area??

Hate to say it, but there really is no "best" chip...they're all pretty darn good, some better than others in certain areas. I personally have used a Wett 1.0 bar chip for 20,000 miles but recently switched to Garrett's 1.0 bar chip and I'm extremely happy with the improved performance. Another poster (Chris K.) also recently went with a Garrett chip to replace his TAP Stage II setup and he's also in love all over again. So I guess both of us are a bit biased towards Garrett.

Air & Water Enterprises in the Chestnut Hill area of Philadelphia (Rhema posted their URL below) is THE place to go in the area for Audi tuning. They are a Garrett (GIAC) chip distributor and Garrett also does a lot of his development work there (utilizing AWE's new Mustang dyno). Todd Sager (owner of AWE) is a great guy and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to tuning VW's and Audi's.

AWE just installed my APR/Borla exhaust, installed my new Garrett chip and flushed and filled my brake system with ATE SuperBlue. Highly recommend them.

Andy, Jenner and I have all experienced driving with different chips. Although we are all chipped with Garrett, Andy and I have both spent considerable amount of time driving with other chips. Flip a few pages back in this forum to get our impressions of Garrett, and Air & Water Enterprise.
