I own a 98 Audi A4 1.8T with sport seats and sunroof. I tried taking this car to a track, but I can not fit in it with a helmet - not enough headroom. I am determined to improve this situation and I am willing to go as far as buying a new car without a sunroof (1.5 inch improvement in headroom). But before I do that I wanted to see if there was an easier way to increase headroom in this car.

I would like you to advise me on two options:

One. - Lowering the factory sport seats by using a custom seat bracket. Is this possible?

Two - Increasing headroom by installing after-market sport seats with custom brackets. How much more headroom could I achieve this way?

Any other ideas?

Sincerely,

i found that with a helmet on, my head also bumped the headliner on the track at points.

have you tried tilting the seat back and extending the wheel?

For this reason exactly I refuse to accept a car with a sunroof.

I would never open it. It costs $1000. It uses up headroom.

Why is it so hard to get a car without one?
