...you can't go more than 40 miles per hour on your way home from work!! I was stuck behind one too many minivan on my way home today, usually I can deal with it, but today it just made my blood boil!!!

Sorry, had to vent.

Anybody have some coping mechanisms out there for heavy traffic (especially on nice back roads that would be a lot of fun if it weren't for the traffic)?

go that much faster than the general traffic. I was always frustrated when driving my 6 cylinder bimmer. It's much better with my 1.8 T QMS; I just try to take it easy. But once in a while I like to go like hell. With smaller engines things get more exciting at lower speeds I guess due to the engine noise etc. I really like my A4 for these qualities.

one of the reasons I love driving my 74 Super Beetle (with AutoStick no less) is that I'm flooring it ALL THE TIME! And that rear engine is great to swing you around corners.

Since you're already driving the A4, maybe come in early or leave a little later to avoid the traffic? Or just resign youself to driving slow all week and venture to the rolling hills on the weekends.

Just relax and enjoy the luxury side of the car, listen to some relaxing music. I like Dvorak, Chopin, or Mozart, or some light jazz. Just don't sweat it, use it as decompression time. Then go out for fun on weekends or at low traffic hours.

I get the same way. I try not to but some days I just get frustrated. Just keep it to yourself and don't do anything stupid on the road. I try to be more considerate and I hate when I regress and do something stupid, like cut off a car and see that a 70 year old guy is driving at his safe and comfortable speed.
